ABOUT ME
Jason White
Introduction
My name is Jason White. My wife, Leigh, and I moved to Amherst in December of 2014. Prior to moving to Amherst, we lived in Nashua. The decision to move to Amherst was based in large part on the historic feel of the town and on the good reputation of the school system. We firmly believe strong schools are vital to a community and a society. Approximately six months after our move to Amherst, Abigail was born. Now, Abigail is a student at Wilkins School. Henry, our previous golden retriever is gone and Gus is now with us. As a family, we still spend time outdoors walking Gus. We feel lucky to call Amherst home and hope to continue to see our community and school system improve and grow.
A Career Dedicated to Education
Education is my passion. I have been a middle school educator since 2003. I started as an eighth grade English teacher at Old Rochester Regional Junior High School in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. In 2007, I went on to teach seventh grade English at Locke Middle School in Billerica, Massachusetts. In 2018, while remaining at Locke Middle School, I made a move to special education believing that I could better help those students who struggled in school. Currently, I am a middle school assistant principal at Hawthorne Brook Middle School in Townsend, Massachusetts. Throughout my time in public education, I have served in a variety of leadership roles from being a union officer involved in negotiations to serving as a member of the mentor committee to being on school council to being a member of a district leadership team. I have had to opportunity as an administrator to implement new programs.
