My Beliefs
It is my sincere belief that public education is the bedrock of our society, of our democracy. Education is the great equalizer, the pathway of opportunity. I also believe that every student has the ability to learn and succeed. It is incumbent on each generation to provide for the next generation the knowledge and skills required to be active, engaged members of our society, of our country. Nowadays, that means educating the whole student. The mind, the body, the soul. I believe schools are a living, breathing community. When education is done right, students are confident, strong risk-takers ready to engage in broader society for good.
Decision-Making Philosophy
My decision-making philosophy is actually quite simple: Find what works best for students. Then figure out how to make it happen. When we put students first, we have our priorities right. Additionally, filtering decisions through the SAU's framework for progress is vital. Our decisions as board members should be to ensure our choices are moving our students towards the stated goals and objectives in the framework. Coincidentally, doing what is right for students is more cost effective in the long run. My first priority is always going to be the students and the school community.
